I thought I'd share some of the neat things I've discovered this week. Well, not that I "discovered" per se, but it's new to me.

As if the logo for the blog header weren't awesome enough, this guy makes flowers, penquins, and even giraffes from pancake batter. Just wait 'till you see the crane! It's a relatively new blog, but Jim's Pancakes is one I'll be keeping an eye on.

According to the Telegraph News of the UK, Doctor Who has caused an upswing in bow tie popularity. Ironically enough, I read not one but two tutorials on making bow ties this week! For those of you that are more old-school, here's a bow tie that you tie (complete with video tutorial on tying it); for the convenience-loving, here's a pre-tied bow tie.

The Monday after Mother's Day is National Wear Your Apron Day. I have several to choose from, 'cuz I'm weird like that, you know. There's an awesome article called Apron Evangelism that renewed my love of aprons several years ago. And just to prove that I'm not as weird as you think (okay, I probably am, but not because of this), check out The Apronista - an entire blog dedicated to aprons!

Don't have one to celebrate? I've got a few to spare, so I'm giving one away! You'll be all set for next year's celebration with your very own vintage apron.

*Mandatory Entry*: Leave a comment telling me why you want an apron. Did your mother or grandmother wear one? Are you a messy cook? Retro cool?

I had never thought of wearing one until I saw my mother-in-law doing so. Not only are they practical, but they actually look cute too.

I remember how much I loved my mom's old-school apron and I'd love to have one myself. I'm still learning to cook so things can get pretty messy, and this apron would definitely come in handy!

When I think of my grandma...I think of an apron. She has long since passed away but I can still see her in the kitchen, standing over the sloppy joes or pot roast with her apron tied perfectly in a bow in the back! I miss her so much! So many of her recipes have since been passed on to me and my famiy LOVES them. Now all I need is an aporon to "tie" it altogether!

My grandmother had a big drawer of aprons. During WWII flour came in printed cloth sacks. I got sundress out of the pretty ones and aprons were made out of all the others. She made all styles depending on the amount of material she had. Many times we had matching aprons. She wore one all day every day. I have a friend getting married this month and I would love to win this for her. Thanks for the entry

I would love an apron because I love to look cute and keep clean while I cook! However, its more than that - I like to feel a little bit "Skippy" if that makes sense! It feels good to be different!

I like to wear aprons especially the older styles. I guess it reminds me of cooking with my grandma when I was little.

My Mom was a microwave cook and didn't wear and apron. Grandma was a busy cook. I'm an aspiring cook. I see the ladies in my husbands family wearing pretty aprons and doing the Betty Crocker thing. I'd like one to fit in. Who knows, maybe it will make me a better cook. LOL

I don't remember my mother or grandmother ever wearing aprons. I started using aprons about a year ago, but really should have started sooner. I used to go through so many towels just wiping my hands off. I am a messy, messy cook. I finally broke down and bought an apron. Then my mom made me one for my birthday. I wish I had about 5 more though!

Something about having an apron on brings me some peace, mostly a pretty one. I have a few. Two are just very basic and they are great when I'm being messy in the kitchen. I have a very pretty one that I were when I just have some work to do. I don't even remember any of the ladies in my family wearing them.

Thanks for the heads up! When I copy and paste, it appears the quotes are switching to “smart quotes.” Try going through and replacing the quotemarks with regular quotes and see if that works.
